23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him:
24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)

This is part of Jacob’s dying and prophetic blessings upon his sons. Truly Joseph went through many trials in his life as we see in verse twenty three above. He was hated, his brothers would have killed him but sold him as a slave instead, he was lied about, cast into prison and left to die, he was sorely grieved. Yet Joseph had the strength to overcome, his hands were made strong. How? That strength did not come from within the man but flowed from the God he loved and trusted. Joseph knew and served a mighty God, a God who does all things well, a God who could and would deliver Joseph. But even if that deliverance never came Joseph would not have wavered, Joseph was strong in the Lord. In the face of the many trials we face in this life today we need to remember that our God is a mighty God and will strengthen us even in dark valleys we pass through.
