Prov 3:24-26 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.
25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.
26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.
KJV
I am reminded this morning, because of a time of sleep through the night, of a prayer my mother would have me say as we began our nightly prayers when I was very, very young. “Now I lay me down to sleep, my soul I pray the Lord to keep” and then would begin prayers for family, dad and mom, grandparents, siblings and so on and so forth. There is great truth in that little verse for those who know Jesus as their Lord and Savior because Jesus does take away all fear, does bring sweet sleep to those who place their faith and trust in Him and Him alone. When I go to sleep each night I know that He will keep, that He will protect, that no enemy will take Him by surprise and that He will keep my foot from being taken from Him. Even during nights when sleep seems hard to come by, and there are more and more of them as the pains of age comes upon one, there is always a confidence in Him, a confidence that takes away all fear.
