Christmas is but ten days away and I often wonder what people celebrate on Christmas Day. For the vast majority it is the birth of a child as presents are exchanged in homes decorated with Christmas trees, lights, wreaths, stockings that will be filled and a meal that will follow. Nothing wrong with any of those things as our family will do the same. But if we celebrate the birth of a child alone then Christmas is just one day a year. We need to praise and thank God the Father for a Son that was given and when we come to know Him, the Lord Jesus Christ, Christmas is not just a day in December, Christmas is a life we live because we have life in the Son that was given. Christmas is about a gift, the gift of eternal life offered through the shed blood of the Son that was given and the cross that awaited Him. Jesus did not come into this world to live, He came to die and to die for you and me. Only when one is born again can they know the true meaning of Christmas and only when one is born again can they know Jesus by the names given to Him in the verse above. We will look at those names over the next few days but today one needs to make sure they do know the true meaning of Christmas. A Son was given so you could be saved and know Him today.
