Num 11:11-14 And Moses said unto the Lord, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12 Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
13 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
KJV
Here we find Moses under a great burden and one he did not ask for perhaps but one he took on when he stopped to meet God at the burning bush and was willing to stand upon Holy ground. Moses then makes a statement that we will often find true in our lives in verse fourteen, the burden is to heavy for him to bear alone. How many times we have faced and will face things in this life that we never asked for, how many times have we felt the burden too heavy to bear? But like Moses we do not have to bear them alone. God’s presence was with Moses and that alone would carry him through. The burden you carry this morning does not have to be one you carry alone for the same God that lifted up Moses stands ready to lift the burden you carry as well and the invitation is open to all. (Matt 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.)
