1 Thess 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
1 Thess 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.
KJV
To me some of the most profound verses in the Bible are some of the shortest. Some of the verses that express the greatest needs are the shortest. Six words above, three in each verse, tell us what we need the most and need to be doing the most. We need to be praying and we need others praying for us. What should we take to the Lord in prayer? Everything. Who needs prayer? Everyone. Yet this is the area of our spiritual life that is often the most neglected and is the most attacked by Satan. We tend to get so busy at times we cut short our prayer time and then lose sight of people who need prayer. Jesus spent many long hours in prayer. But who has time for that today? David prayed morning, noon and evening. But who has time for that? David spent long nights in tears weeping as he prayed. But who has time for that? We need to be a praying people because we are a needful people and because we are commanded to pray. How much time will you give to the Lord in prayer today? More time than given to the smart phone or to Face Book? Some will say they have no answers to prayer and overlook the reason. The Bible tells us in the book of James “Ye have not, because ye ask not.” How much are we really given to what is most needed in our lives today?
