Heb 3:18-19 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Matt 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
KJV
Theere are times when I do find myself weary and in need of rest and that rest seems to be just beyond reach. But there is rest promised to the child of God, a promise made by Jesus. Why then do we so often seem to fall short of that promised rest? Has Jesus forgotten His promise? Has Jesus failed to provide for us what we need? Are we past being helped and held in His unseen hand? Is the problem with the one who made the promise? Or is the problem with the one who received the promise? As we see above the problem is not with the one who made the promise but with the one who received it. It is at times hard to stand upon the promises of God with all that this life holds by way of trials and testing. Hard when we hear bad news from the doctors, hard when we spend time in hospitals, hard when we meet at the grave side of dear loved ones, hard when we see the darkness of this world deepening around us, hard at times. Yet our God is faithful and we must simply come unto Him that is able in every storm of life to give us rest. Do you believe He is able today? Can you give all to Him, come to Him in the midst of your storm of life? Will you stop your labor and lay down your burded at His feet? When we do that we will find rest in this weary world.
