Ps 3:4-6 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
KJV
Now I lay me down to sleep, my soul the Lord I pray to keep. Those were the words that started prayers before bedtime when I was a young boy with mom by my bedside ready to tuck me in as soon as I was done with my prayers. I can’t remember all that I prayed for then but I do remember the words that began each prayer time as we knelt at the bedside. Only after I was saved and grown in years did I begin to realize the impact of those simple words. We can, as born again believers in Christ, lay down and sleep in full confidence that our God will take care of us, will sustain us, has given eternal life and know there is nothing we need to fear no matter how many may be set against us. Can you say those simple words in prayer and mean them? If not you need to trust Jesus Christ today as your savior. Salvation in Christ is as simple as those words I began prayers with as a very young boy but it does demand faith in the one and only one who can save. Will you be able to lay down in peace tonight because you are sure you have been born again in Jesus Christ?
