16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
KJV
We find in verse fifteen above what the world needs today as much or more than it ever has, a light that will shine out for Jesus. Satan is active in trying to cover that light today but the Christian with the light of Christ within is to hold that light up and allow it to shine out. (Verse sixteen.) When one does obey that command it will draw the attention of the devil but that light needs to shine. There are only two called the “Light of the world” in the Bible. Jesus proclaimed that He is the light of the world and truly Jesus is the greater light. But Jesus also said that the born again believer is the light of the world in Matthew 5:14. The greater light is Jesus but as lights we also are to shine out and do all we can to point others to the Savior they need.
