9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

In everyday life when one puts off something they put on something else. When one puts off dirty clothes they put on clean clothes. When one puts off dress clothes they put on work clothes. In order to put on pajamas one needs to put something off. When we put off something we put on something. That is a Biblical principal that when something needs putting off something needs to be put on as we see in our reading this morning. One reason we as Christians have such problems putting off things of the world, things of the flesh, things that cause us to sin in that we fail to put anything on. For example if worldly music is a problem and I put it off I need to put on spiritual music and listen to the old hymns of the faith. If I know I need to put off social media, facebook, the smart phone I need to put on more time in my Bible and in prayer, I need to put on more time spent with my precious Lord. If I know I need to put off the old man I need to be more given to the Holy Spirit and put on the new man and a deeper walk with the Lord. For me to put off something I need to put on something. Are you having trouble putting something off? Then try putting something on that pleases the Lord.
