Song 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.
KJV
We need to be careful to watch out for the little foxes that want to enter into our lives. The illustration in the verse above is of a little fox, smaller than the ones we are familiar with, that would dig under the walls of a vineyard and eat away at the roots of the vine. All would look good on the surface for a time but that vine would produce no fruit and eventually die. Watch out for the seemingly little things we allow into our lives that can hinder us spiritually. A look of envy, a look of pride, those things begin small but do not stay small. Soon we think too much of self, soon we have a heart that is given to covetousness and we have no contentment in our lives, soon we become bitter. Watch out for the little foxes. Little things that we think are harmless begin to grow and grow and soon we are bearing no fruit for our Lord. There may be little foxes but there are not little sins. Little foxes spoil the vine and little sins can destroy a testimony and render us fruitless in this world.
