May 20th, 2025 by Pastor Solley2 Sam 23:9-10 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
10 He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the Lord wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

Here we find another of David’s might men of note, Eleazar who stood close to David in battle. No wonder that David wanted him close to him because Eleazar would not stop until the battle was over. We see above that he fought so long and so hard that when the battle was over his hand was not able to let go the sword. (Verse 10) I can imagine others held his arm while they pulled his fingers off that sword so he could rest from the battle won. I also see an example how we need to cleave to the Word of God which is our sword today. (Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ; Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.) When in this spiritual battle we have one weapon available to us that Satan cannot overcome and Satan cannot destroy, our Bible. Is your hand used to holding the Bible today? Do you wrap yourself in and around the Word of God? Is the Bible what you hold onto when in trouble because of the attack of the enemy? Eleazar would not let go of his sword and what strength we get when we will not lot go of ours.
