Matt 15:21-27 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

Here we find one not of Israel, but one who knew what her daughter needed and who her daughter needed. What she had tried before this we do not know but most likely many things to rid her child of the demon that was destroying her. When she heard Jesus was near by she knew the answer, get her child to Jesus. She was determined, getting by the disciples who would send her away, getting by her prejudice which would be against the house of Israel and their beliefs. (When Jesus spoke in verse 24 it was directed at her, not at Himself.) Then we see her willing to receive anything that Jesus would give her. Where are the mother’s today with this determination? Where are the mothers who realize that their children need Jesus more than anyone or anything else in this world? Where are the mothers who will make that type of commitment to get their children to Jesus? Many will sacrifice to get them to any activity of the world, sign them up for every sports team available, but never seem to want to make any effort at all to get them to Jesus. Then we wonder what is wrong with the young people of today when the answer is right in front of us. They need Jesus and mothers who will sacrifice to get them to Jesus. (More on this mother tomorrow.)
