2 Tim 1:2-5 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
KJV
The only Lois found in the Bible is a grandmother and much more a godly grandmother. The influence of a godly grandmother and her value cannot be overstated as we see she is noted even before the godly mother that Timothy had. I can only imaging and wonder what young Timothy learned at the knees of his grandmother, of the hours she spent in prayer for her grandson, of her godly example and her faithfulness to the Lord Jesus Christ. Many of the things that I learned and saw in my own grandmother I am sure. I never met my grandmother on my mother’s side, but saw great faith in my grandmother Solley. I heard her pray, I heard her give thanks to the Lord in time of sorrow, I listened to her voice when she gave sound advice in the Lord, and I had the makings of a good beginning in the Lord from watching my grandmother. I thank the Lord today for grandmothers who are like the Lois we find in the Bible and thank Him today for blessing me with one of them. Give your grandmother the honor due to her this coming Sunday as well and for any grandmothers reading this, be a Lois.
