10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.

Yesterday we noted Jesus weeping over the city and people of Jerusalem just after hearing praises to His name. This morning we see one of the reasons Jesus was moved to tears of sorrow in verse eleven above. The people acknowledged Jesus as a prophet and He was, but they failed to acknowledge Jesus for who He is. Jesus is God in the flesh, the very Son of God given into the world to provide everlasting life for any and all who would call upon Him in faith and believing.
(John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.) Jesus is the only one able to provide forgiveness of sin and that eternal life, the only way to have a relationship with the God of heaven. (John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.) But the person and life that is in Christ the people would turn away from much like people celebrate Easter in our world today, in many of our churches today. There will be visitors in church services this coming Sunday to acknowledge an empty tomb and a risen Savior, but they do not know Him and for the most part do not want to know Him. No wonder Jesus wept and we should weep for the lost today as well.
