March 11th, 2025 by Pastor SolleyMatt 20:1-6 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

To stand idle in the Bible in never a good thing. The word idle is found eleven times in the Bible and never in a good way. But today to be idle seems to be the goal of many, to do as little as possible, to do nothing and be rewarded for it seems to be the goal of many. That should never be the goal of the born again believer in Christ for there is always something we can be doing for our Lord. We can read His Word, we can pray, we can hand out gospel tracts, we can witness to the lost, we can invite others out to church, we can be in church when the doors are open, there is always something we can be doing for the Lord. But how much of our day is wasted as we sit idle. I know we need to work, we need to sleep, we need to rest our bodies and our minds, we need to eat, we need to do things that are not seen as spiritual. But there are also many hours spent idle be it on social media, be it in front of the TV or whatever, there are many hours spent idle. Why not give that idle time to prayer? Why not give that idle time to Lord? If you read the remainder of the passage started above you will see that those who got up and moving were rewarded for not sitting idle any longer.
