March 4th, 2025 by Pastor SolleyLuke 14:16-21 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

As soon as the invitations were give the excuses began to come in. What could be more important than what God has for them, what Jesus has prepared for them? One wants to take care of his possessions, one has to work, one has family, they all make excuse. Take note that none of these things hold up before God, none of them hold up before Jesus. Those who made excuse are not given more time, are not told the invitation would be extended at a later time, instead the invitations when out to others. What could be our excuse for ignoring the invitation to eternal life in Jesus Christ? What could be our excuse for ignoring the invitation of living a life for Jesus Christ in this world? What could be our excuse for ignoring the invitation to making a commitment for Christ? What excuse will hold up before Jesus today? “I need to see my new side by side, my new golf clubs, the things that I have bought.”“ I need to work so I can make more money to buy more things.”“ I have family that is more important.” What could be our excuse for ignoring the invitation extended to us that will hold up before Jesus? None will hold up.
