Luke 16:19-24 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

One thing that weighs heavy upon me today in the way our elected and appointed officials use the word hell. An appointed official is going to Boston and he is going to bring hell with him. Our president often says there will be hell to pay if one thing or another does not come to pass. Hell is real and that word should not to be used lightly. There will also be a debt paid in hell, the sin debt. That is why the rich man above is being tormented in hell, because of sin he had to pay for. Hell is real, the flame is real, the torment is real and eternal. But there is one who was able and did pay the sin debt for hell with His shed blood and that one is Jesus Christ. We all have the debt to pay and without receiving Jesus Christ as our savior we will pay the debt. (Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:) Jesus paid the sin debt for all who repent and come to Him seeking forgiveness and eternal life. (Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.) The word hell should never be used lightly as so many like to do today because hell is real. Have you a debt looming over you that you will have to pay one day? Or have you asked the one who died for you to save you from that sin debt?
