1 Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
KJV
We have noted this week that Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd that gave His life for the sheep. All who call out to the Good Shepherd in repentance for forgiveness of sin and salvation come to know Jesus as their Good Shepherd, the one who died for and saved them from sin and hell. Then we saw Jesus as the Great Shepherd that is keeping watch over His sheep because it is an everlasting covenant He made with the sheep and an unconditional covenant as well. Jesus watches over, protects, provides, guides, and many more things for His sheep. Today we see a third aspect, Jesus Christ is our Chief Shepherd and He will reward the sheep of His flock. There are more injustices in this world than we could ever name. I hear all the time that life is not fair. Both statements are true because although we are His seep we still live in this sin cursed world. All the bad that happens in this world is not because of our Shepherd, it is because of sin. While we must live in this world for a time there is an eternity coming where we will be rewarded by our Good, Great, and Chief Shepherd and those rewards will far outweigh any and all injustices we may think we have suffered here. Even while in this world we are not abandoned by our Shepherd, He is always with us, always guiding, always protecting, and one day He will be rewarding us for following after Him. Follow Him today.
