John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
1 Peter 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Heb 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
In the Bible we find Jesus as a shepherd in three different ways. Why three? David knew the Lord as his shepherd and that truth was stated very clearly. (Ps 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.) Each one then that repents of sin and trusts the Lord Jesus Christ as his or her personal savior then has the Lord as their shepherd as well. But do we fully understand how Jesus is ours as a shepherd? For most that answer is no and for the next few days we will look at Jesus as our shepherd. First, He can be your Good Shepherd, wants to be your Good shepherd. (John 10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.) It is the Good Shepherd that gave His life for the sheep. (John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.) Jesus became your Good Shepherd in His death when you received Him as your savior. One cannot call Him their shepherd until they are born again. Do you know Him as your Good Shepherd today? Do you know there is one who laid down His life for you? Do you know there is one who died for you? Do you know there is a Good Shepherd who can take away your sin? (Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.) This is the shepherd you must know first, the Good Shepherd who died for you. Are you saved today, are you born again, have you found the Good Shepherd? If that answer is no why not call upon Him today for He is still searching for you, still waiting for you to call out to Him. Do you know the Good Shepherd today?
