Matt 17:1-2 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,
2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.
KJV
This demonstration of power from one they had already received as Savior and acknowledged that He is God in the flesh. Why then this demonstration when they already knew of His power and might? One thing they were not seeing at that point was the glory that Christ had set aside in coming into this sin cursed world. It is good for the believer in Christ to meditate at times on the glory that is coming. Often hard to see in this dark and gloomy world is the glory that is coming one day soon. They needed to see that glory just before the cross. Paul needed to see that glory at times. (2 Cor 4:8-9 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;) Stephen needed to see that glory. (Acts 7:55-56 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.) John exiled needed to see that glory. (Rev 1:10-11 I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11 Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.) We need to see that glory as well and when we look into the sacred pages of our King James Bible, when we spend time in prayer, when we meditate upon Jesus we see the glory that is coming. Do you need to see a glimpse of glory today? Look to Jesus Christ.
