April 2nd, 2024 by Pastor Solley1 Sam 23:1-4 Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.
2 Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.
3 And David’s men said unto him, Behold, we be afraid here in Judah: how much more then if we come to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?
4 Then David inquired of the Lord yet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

“David inquired of the Lord yet again.” The answer of God seems quite clear in verse two, “And the Lord said unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.” Why ask again? Because David wanted to be sure that he was following the direction of the Lord. God is never displeased, never upset when we bring things before Him in prayer, when we seek guidance, when we ask for direction no matter how many times we ask. When we have doubts and fears as we see in verse three above we need to pray and seek the Lord more and not less. Now that David was sure he went into battle and was given a great victory by the power and might of the Lord. Reading the rest of the passage tells us why there was fear in the army of David in verse three and also how God was in control all of the time. When we need direction we need to inquire of the Lord and when doubts and fears remain we need to inquire of the Lord all the more.
