Those are the three times the word ransom is found in the New Testament, all having to do with the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross for you and me. Jesus Christ gave His life a ransom for all. (1 Tim 2:6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.) Not all will be saved, but all can be saved. Considering all that Christ gave for us and Jesus Christ gave His all, what are we willing to give to Him? Churches will be filled this coming Sunday with people who never think of going to church throughout the year. People will put on their best for church this Sunday who never think of doing their best for Jesus any other time of the year. People will sing praises to the name of Jesus this Sunday just as the multitude praised His name on what we call Palm Sunday and then never say a word for Jesus the rest of the year. All the while Christ paid the ransom for their souls and that cost was His life and blood. It is not wrong for people to come out on Easter Sunday and I am glad that they will for it presents an opportunity to give the gospel message to those who seldom hear it. But Christian Jesus deserves something better from us than what He receives from the world does He not? What not give to Jesus in the same way He gave to us? Why not give to Jesus our all, all of the time? Make the ransom seem worth it to Jesus.
