Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

Why was Jesus weeping? The multitudes were singing His praises, “Blessed be the King”. When asked to quiet the people Jesus responded “If these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” Why then the tears, and they were not tears of joy. Because the people were giving Jesus lip service and nothing more. Jesus knew the hearts of the people, knew what was coming, knew of their soon rejection of Him and the cross. Jesus knows as well when people are giving Him lip service today. So many claim to be saved, claim to be born again, praise God for salvation with their words and their hearts are far from Him and Jesus knows. Jesus continues to weep over the lost today and especially those who mock Him with false praise. What of your words today, do they match your heart? When Jesus looks at you and into your heart what type of tears come to His eyes? Are they tears of joy over one who truly knows, loves and serves Him? Or are they the tears Jesus shed over Jerusalem? Jesus knows.
