March 13th, 2024 by Pastor Solley2 Kings 7:1-3 Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
2 Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the Lord would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
3 And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die?

The Bible is a book of questions. Questions asked by God, questions asked by people both saved and lost. Above we have four lepers, men outcast, sitting outside the gates of a city starving and they ask a question of themselves. “Why sit here until we die?” If they entered into the city they would die, if they did nothing they would die, and if they entered the camp of the enemy they would die. (2 Kings 7:4 If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.) So, “Why sit here until we die?” Many are the lost in sin, those without Jesus Christ in their lives, who will do nothing but sit in that sin until they die and then spend eternity in hell. Why do they sit in sin when Jesus Christ died for them, paid the price for that sin, and is willing and able to save all who call out to Him for forgiveness and salvation? Could it could be because some who do know Jesus Christ as their personal savior have chosen to sit until they die? We have been given the task of spreading the gospel message, of telling others about Jesus and His free gift of salvation, of His shed blood, of His desire to forgive and to save. Are we doing that or have we chosen to sit until we die? The lepers in 2 Kings got up and moved and were saved and they also spread the news of the departed enemy and many others were saved as well. What if we got up and told others of Jesus, what if we chose not to sit until we die?
