Ps 85:10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
KJV
When does mercy and truth meet. Truth tells us we are all sinners and worthy of death and an eternity in hell. (Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Rom 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.) Mercy meets truth when Jesus died for our sins. (Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.) Truth tells us that no matter how many good works we do that we will never be worthy of God and heaven. (Isa 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.) Mercy meets truth when Jesus imparts His righteousness unto those who call upon Him for forgiveness and salvation. (Titus 3:5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Rom 3:22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:) Truth tells us what we are from birth because of our sin nature. (Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.) Mercy meets truth and tells us we can be changed and live a different life. (2 Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.) Praise God that mercy and truth can meet because of Jesus Christ.
