1 Sam 8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

Be aware Christian of the danger of wanting to be “Like all nations.” Israel thought they were missing something because they had no king “Like all nations.” At that time they had the Lord God Jehovah to rule over them, to guide them, to protect them, to provide for them, but they had no king to rule over them. They asked and were granted a king and that king would take more from them than he and those who followed would ever give them. But they did become “Like all nations.” Be aware of the danger of wanting to be “Like all nations” today. The world holds no more for the Christian than the king held for Israel. The world will take from the Christian just as the king took from Israel. And when one needs what they think they can get from the world the world will let them down just like the king let down the children of Israel. Be aware of the danger of what to be “Like all nations.” We need to stop and realize just how good it is to be a child of God and to allow our God to rule over us, to give all of self to Him and receive all that He has for us. Don’t desire to be “Like all nations.” It is much better to be different and walk with Christ.
