2 Cor 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
KJV
I am awed by the spiritual strength seen in so many in the Bible including Paul. Just after revealing his prayers to be healed and the answer coming back that God was not going to heal him he states “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities”. Therefore, because he was not going to be healed, he would praise and thank God for that weakness in his flesh. Paul could say that and do that because he was seeking the will of God in every aspect of his life. So often when we pray, when I pray, and the answered is delayed or seems to be no we respond quite differently. We tend to be discouraged, disappointed in God and at times question God. Instead we should pray as Paul and others did that in our weakness God make us strong. Certainly had Paul been healed he would have been stronger physically, but would he have been stronger spiritually? Paul understand that while his physical strength and health were important his spiritual strength and health were far more important. Could it be that answers to our prayer may be delayed, or even something denied, so our God can make us spiritually strong and healthy?
