1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

Our comforter, which is the Holy Spirit of God can produce within the child of God a oneness with God. That unction is a special endowment, an anointing, a oneness with the Lord Jesus Christ. What greater comfort than that? But it is a oneness that can be interrupted on our part. For example answer these questions for yourself. What is the first thing you did this morning, the first person you talked to, the first thing you read? Did you pick up your Bible before your cell phone? Did you talk to God before turning on your PC or TV? Did you think of spiritual things or earthly things first today? Will you ask that your steps be directed by the Holy Spirit today, for Him to guard your eyes, your speech, your thoughts? We must determine that we want the oneness with the Holy One that is set before us. No wonder so many professing Christians seem to lack comfort today when so many seem to turn away from the oneness that is promised. Our God has and wants an unction for you and me today and we need to want it as well.
