17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
KJV
What a timely promise those men received in the upper room that night “I will not leave you comfortless”. Their world was about to be turned upside down as Jesus would be taken from them, crucified, and laid in a tomb. “I will not leave you comfortless”. Sorrow and anguish for three days. “I will not leave you comfortless”. Jesus would rise from the dead and sorrow would be turned into joy. “I will not leave you comfortless”. How many times would they rehears those words? “I will not leave you comfortless”. They would face trials and persecutions, heartaches and despair until they would give their lives as well for Christ. But all the time that promise. “I will not leave you comfortless”. When we feel in need of comfort as those men did we can claim the same promise Jesus gave to them “I will not leave you comfortless”. What is it that troubles you this morning, what trials are you facing, what heartaches are you dealing with today? Why carry the burden alone, why not rest in the promise and come to Him, give all to Him in prayer? “I will not leave you comfortless”.
