Gen 49:24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
Luke 2:28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
KJV
Above are the first and last uses of the words arms in the Bible and both reference exactly what we need day after day. In the first we see the strength of God. Jacob is giving his dying blessings to each of his sons and speaking of Joseph we find that his arms were made strong by the Lord. Joseph went through many hard trials in his life and was always faithful to the Lord. Joseph is one of very few in the Bible of which nothing negative is said. How did Joseph stay faithful, how did Joseph go on? His strength was in almighty God and he was made strong. The last use of arms has to do with Jesus as He was brought to the temple and Simeon held the Savior of the world in his arms. They were arms of tenderness and that is what we find in Jesus Christ. Jesus is strong and mighty for sure and we find the strength we need in Christ day by day. But we also find a tenderness in our Lord and there are times when we need His tender touch just as much as we need His strength. I thank the Lord Jesus Christ for the strength He gives each and every day, strength that we need to stay faithful, strength we need to serve, strength we need to continue on in this world. I thank Jesus just as much for His tender touch that lifts us up, that encourages us, that lets us know just how much He cares for us. Strength and tenderness are found in Jesus our Lord.
