1 Thess 5:27-28 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

Will you be spending time in the Word of God today? The Bible charges us to read and heed God’s Word. The word charge in this verse means to be placed under a solemn oath to do something and here that something is to read the Word of God. These are not the words of the apostle, they are the words of God. But will you obey them today? For some reading a devotional like this is enough for them. Others will pour over and meditate upon a portion of His Word. Still others will not take a moment to read just one verse. We need many things in this world today and above all we need the Bible, we need the Word of God to be real in our lives. The other a day I found a feature in our car that I never knew was there and we have had the car going on five years. Why didn’t I know about that feature? Because I never bother to read the book that came with the car. I didn’t need the book to drive the car so why bother to read the book? As a result there was something there that I could have used. The same with our Bible. As we go through this world there are things we need from our Bible, things reading our Bible will open us to us, things we will miss if we neglect God’s Word. Be faithful to the charge given to you today and spend some time in the Word of God.
