4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
KJV
Have you ever made a promise and then was not able to keep it? You did not lie, you did all you could, you had good intentions, but you were not able to keep that promise and others were disappointed in you? That has happened many times over as I have promised to do things and then was unable to keep that promise. I tried, I did all I could, but was unable to keep that promise. God had made more promises in His Word than I could list this morning. Some to nations, some to kings, some just to Israel, and many to those who have placed faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their personal savior from sin and hell. But there is something different about the promises of God as those promises are called precious promises in the verse above. What makes them precious? God has kept and will keep every promise He has made. Nothing is able to keep God from keeping His promises and that makes them precious. There is a song that states “Every promise in the book is mine, ever chapter, every verse, every line” and that little song rings in my ears over and over as I meditate upon the promises of God. What promise of God do you need the most today? Pick up your Bible and read that precious promise over and over again knowing that God will always keep His promises.
