I have always wondered at this passage of Scripture, Isaac digging again the wells of water that Abraham had dug, why the Philistines would have stopped them up. The most precious thing in a desert region would be water and the Philistines could use those wells. Why not leave the well alone and make use of the water? It is a picture of how much the lost work against the child of God and all that is of God even to their own hurt and destruction. Christian, we are in a pitched battle and the enemy would destroy all and even themselves to do you hurt and harm. Don’t be shocked today when you find yourself under spiritual attack and that attack seems to come in ways that you don’t fully understand. Stan is able to put in the minds of the lost a hatred for the things of God that move them to fight even against themselves. (Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.) Part of the wiles of the devil is to make unbelief think they can destroy God by destroying the born again believer in Christ. But Isaac was not destroyed, Isaac did not die of thirst, Isaac dug those wells again and so can we dig the refreshing wells of the waters of God today. Come to that living water today, drink of the Word of God, be refreshed in prayer, dig those wells we need today. If they seem to have been stopped up come to that place you need to be a dig the wells of spiritual water.
