Ps 32:8-9 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

We are not to go into this New Year or live life the Bible says as the horse or the mule. Not to go through life driven by the winds of the sea, not to live as if fate guides us and there is nothing to do about it. The horse and the mule have no understanding, they are but dumb animals. Ever hear the saying “Stubborn as a mule”? A mule seems to fight against the owner even when the owner has the best interest of the mule in mind. We are to seek the Divine guidance that is set before us. God does not want to place bit in our mouth and turn and drive us, God wants to lead us and we need to want to be led by Him. The person who follows our Divine guide will gain understanding. (Ps 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.) Seek the Divine guidance that is much needed as we enter 2024 and trust in the leading of the Lord. In that we will gain a measure of understanding. (Ps 119:169 Let my cry come near before thee, O Lord: give me understanding according to thy word.)
