1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
KJV
Are you peculiar? Peculiar in your walk with the Lord, a walk in the light, a walk in holiness? In John chapter three man apart from Jesus Christ is seen as loving darkness and not light. (John 3:19-21 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.) This world does abide in darkness and loves the darkness of sin. But a Christian is to be peculiar in our love of the light, of our desire to walk in the light, of our need for more light each and ever day. Peter had under inspiration of the Holy Spirit repeated a command that is for us today. (1 Peter 1:15-16
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.) We are to be peculiar in our walk with the Lord. At every turn today sin is placed before us, pushed at us, and it is common place to call evil good and good evil and to accept every action that is against God’s holy Word. But we are to be peculiar, we are to be different, we are to stand out because of a walk in holiness. We will never be holy but Jesus is and we are to walk in His light and that light does lead to holiness. Are you peculiar in your walk with the Lord?
