December 13th, 2023 by Pastor Solley1 Peter 2:6-9 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

Are you peculiar? Notice in verse nine that you have been chosen. When Jesus Christ came into this world to give His life a sacrifice for sin on the cross He chose you, me, and all to have the opportunity to be saved. Jesus Christ died for all and has chosen all to have the opportunity to be saved. Jesus is not willing that any perish but that all come to repentance and salvation. (2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.) If you are saved today then Jesus Christ should be so precious to you that you seem peculiar in your love and devotion to Him. To the world Jesus is no more than a curse word, a name to be mocked, ridiculed and if they could removed from society. But to us who are saved it is a precious name because He is a precious savior. (Verses six and seven above.) How precious is the name of Jesus to you today? Precious to the point it breaks your heart and you turn away when you hear that name mocked? Precious to the point it breaks your heart to hear that name used as a curse word? Precious to the point that you praise that name at every opportunity? Precious to the point that you share than name and the gospel message to those you talk with? How precious is the name of Jesus Christ to you today? You and I should be thought of as peculiar in the way that we hold the name of Jesus Christ as precious to us as well in the way we share that precious name and protect that precious name. Are you peculiar?
