Daily Devotions
December 8th, 2023 by Pastor SolleySong 2:15 Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.
Luke 22:31-33 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

Another little fox we need be aware of is the fox of being self sufficient. Peter was ready, “I am ready”. But what was Peter ready to do without the help of the Lord Jesus Christ? Peter was ready to deny his Lord when it came time to stand for his Lord because Peter was ready. What can we do today without the Lord, without His power, without His grace, without His mercy, without His guidance, without His wisdom? We can do the very same thing Peter did, we can fail. I have many tings to do today, many places to go, and I have done them all before and I can go through the motions of all of them on my own. Even getting this devotional ready, I can do it on my own. But none of the things I do today will be what they could be, none will be what they should be if I try and do them on my own. This devotional will be without any real spiritual value unless the Lord is my help. The hospital visit I make without any real spiritual comfort, the message I work on without any real spiritual depth and all will fall far short of what my God wants them to be if I try and do them on my own. We can do all things through Christ and that verse is often one we flee to as we should. But we also need remember that without Him we can do nothing. Beware of becoming self sufficient and seek the help that is there for us in prayer asking Christ to strengthen us for even the smallest of things before us today.
