Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Only Jesus can do the things that are set before is in verse eighteen. We preach the gospel message today, but only Jesus can do those things. How many reading this are brokenhearted today? Many are the times when we have heavy and broken hearts. The loss of loved ones, the loss of health, losses mount up in this world and one is often left brokenhearted. Who can heal that broken heart. Captive to sin, unable to move away from the sins of the world, things that have a tight grip on our lives that we want to set behind us but seem unable to do so. Who can set us free from sin, who can give us liberty? Jesus can. Bruised and battered, who can heal those wounds. Only Jesus can do the things set before us in verse eighteen. Do you know Him today? Have you confessed that you are a sinner and that you need Him? Have you repented of sin and turned to Jesus Christ? What is Jesus to you today? Is He your Savior? Do you know Him today? Those questions are ones that need to be asked and answered in your life as they have been in mine. Only after one receives Jesus Christ as their personal savior do the above verses become real in his or her life. Do you know Jesus today?
