Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
KJV
There is a close and personal relationship that God the Father wants to have with every individual that comes to a true saving knowledge of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. That relationship cannot be measured in words any more than the word Abba can be translated. It is a relationship that must be experienced and then only by the redeemed in Christ. It is also a relationship that Satan works to steal away from the child of God. When we begin to think that God is far away, when we perhaps begin to doubt, when that relationship seems to have been terminated we need to take assurance that our God is there and always wants to be close to us. Where does that assurance come from? Notice the verses before and after verse fifteen. (Rom 8:14-16 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:) There are times when we need to get on our knees and ask that the Holy Spirit gives blessed assurance to us, times when we need to ask for the presence of God to be felt in our lives, times when we need ask “Help mine unbelief”. When that man in need asked Jesus to do that in Mark chapter nine Jesus did just that. Ask for the closeness that our heavenly Father wants to be real in your life and then draw ever neared to Him. There is a very special relationship that God wants to have with all who have been born again.
