October 26th, 2023 by Pastor Solley2 Tim 2:10-11 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
KJV
Today we see the third occurrence of the phrase faithful saying. This world is full of heartache, trial, and worry and that for everyone including the child of God. We will face hardness. (2 Tim 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.) We will face tribulation.
(John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.) We do have an enemy.
(1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:) Those are all parts of this faithful saying but they are not the last part. The Bible clearly states that “If we be dead with Him, we shall also live with Him”. Jesus faced all those things, had victory over all of them, and is now at the right hand of the Father in heaven making intercessions for us. We also have our victory over all of those things and more in Jesus Christ and will one day live with Him for all eternity. That is true only of the one who has repented of sin and trusted Jesus Christ as personal savior. When the trials seem to be overwhelming, when the trouble rises, when it seems impossible to endure, it is then we need remember that we have our life in Jesus Christ. Because He died for us and we have died to self and the world we will one day live above this world and its troubles with Christ.
