But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

He knows His sheep by name and so He would know our voice as well. How well do we know His voice? The answer to that question is held in our obedience to Him. When He leads us as a shepherd leads the flock do we follow? Obedience is not seen in great things but in little things such as following after the simple leading of the shepherd. That shepherd would lead the flock to green pastures. That shepherd would lead the flock to still waters. All the while the flock following the simple leading of the shepherd. Then when there were dark valleys to go through, where there was danger, the flock would continue to follow the leading of the shepherd because that was what it was used to doing. I wonder at times when I seem to be greatly troubled in dark valleys if it is not because I have not been following day by day in simple things as I should have been. Follow that shepherd everyday, let Him lead and guide you in everything and then when it is a valley you must pass through it will not seem to be that deep and dark.
