1 Sam 1:12-13 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli marked her mouth.
13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.
KJV
So many examples in the Bible of both men and women deep in prayer. Here we see Hannah so deep in prayer that no sound came out of her mouth even though she was speaking. Eli, who was supposed to be a spiritual man, thought she was drunk with wine when in fact she was deep in prayer. It tells me that the prayers of Eli were shallow compared to the prayers of Hannah. I wonder how my prayer life compares and how shallow it must along side those so taken to prayer in the Bible. Hannah had her prayer answered as did David, Daniel, Peter and Paul among so many others. When we seem to have few answers to prayer perhaps it is because we are shallow in prayer. How much time will we spend in prayer this day, how deep into prayer will we go? When prayer is shallow expect answers to be few.
