Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

We conclude our little Psalm this week with a question, “Why art thou cast down, O my soul?” Indeed with how good God is to us, has been to us, and will be to us, why should we ever be cast down? I have a hope this morning, a blessed hope, and He is the Lord Jesus Christ. Allow the truth of this Psalm to rule in your life today, “hope thou in God”. Who is your hope today, what is your hope today? Does your hope lie in the hands of government, in your bank account, in doctors and medicine or in any other worldly person or thing? Then it is hope misplaced and you have reason to be cast down. But if your hope is in the Lord then you never need be cast down as one who has no hope. A cast sheep has no hope unless picked up by the shepherd. Let the shepherd of your soul, let your good shepherd lift you up today by placing all hope in Him. Different storms of life will continue as long as we are in this world but our hope can remain steadfast and sure in Jesus Christ. Do you know Him today?
