Ps 42:8-9 Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
KJV
God is an ever present help in our time of need. (Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.) The question in verse nine comes from the mind of the Psalmist, not from the fact that God had forsaken or forgotten him. Ever feel just like that, that you are all alone and forsaken in that time of trouble? When those feelings arise in your mind remember that the “Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.” Never allow the doubts and fears that arise in this world to take away the closeness of the Lord. He is there in the daytime and in the night as well. Our God has promised to be always near us, to never forsake us, to be our help in our time of need. Like the one the Holy Spirit used to pen the words of this Psalm we may permit doubts and fears to arise and in those times we need rest on the truth of His promises. “Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.”
