2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

I wonder how many reading this Psalm could say the same as the psalmist, that they seek after the Lord, that their soul is thirsting for communion with the living God? The illustration is a very clear one, “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” A hart was a deer seeking to quench a thirst. But it goes deeper than that. Remember what the region was and is like, a desert land where there is little water to be found. The hart is panting because of thirst and if water is not found soon it will die. Do you thirst for God is such a way, that without a time apart and alone with Him you would almost die? Most who claim to know the Lord today spend as little time with Him as possible it seems. Neglected Bibles, neglected prayers, neglected church services seem to be the norm in America today. What would happen if we began to thirst after God? Would our lives change? Would the blessings of God begin to flow? Would we find that tears of sorrow were turned into tears of joy? What would happen if we began to thirst after our God as if our lives depended upon finding Him? But our lives do depend upon Him dear friend and we need to be found close to Him. More on this Psalm tomorrow. Today ask yourself, do you have a thirst for God?
