August 17th, 2023 by Pastor Solley1 Kings 19:4-7 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O Lord, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
5 And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
6 And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
7 And the angel of the Lord came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.

God’s servant was in great need and yesterday we noted that God sent one to help Elijah. We have one called along side of us today to help us, the Holy Spirit of God. Angels remain ministering spirits of God but we have the Holy Spirit of God dwelling within and He is there to comfort and help us. Today we see that God fed Elijah as well. There was a real cake set before the prophet and he did eat. Today we have the bread of life set before us. How did Jesus answer Satan in the wilderness? It was with the Word of God and we can today rise and eat of His blessed Word. Worn down today? Rise and eat. Discouraged today? Rise and eat. Questions about tomorrow? Rise and eat. We gain more strength, find more encouragement, get more questions answered when we turn to the Word of God. Are you in the habit of reading your Bible? Most professing Christians are not and then they wonder why they are worn out and worn down. Rise and eat.
