Ruth 2:1-3 And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.

I wonder what Ruth expected when she left her home to follow her mother-in-law and serve Jehovah God? (Ruth 1:16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:) Did she dream of poverty and being a gleaner in a field, picking up what was left over? Did she dream of having no home to call her own? I think not. But what she did want was a relationship with the God of heaven. “Thy people shall be my people, and thy GOD MY GOD”. Her faith was soon rewarded as God directed her steps to the fields of Boaz. Ruth is a wonderful book to read as we see the plan and purpose of God in her life play out. We read it looking back but should not forget Ruth could not see far ahead in her life and did not know what would be on the morrow. What she did was trust the Lord in everything everyday. What a lesson for us today. None of us know what tomorrow holds as our lives could change drastically from one day to the next. What we do know is that we can trust the Lord for He does know what tomorrow holds. Ruth trusted and God made a way for her and our God will do the same for you and me.
