1 Thess 1:7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
1 Thess 5:1-4 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
KJV
These believers were an example to others as we have noted all this past week. This morning we see their example in being able to discern the signs of the times concerning the last days and the rapture of the church. They were ready to meet the Lord Jesus Christ. Their lives were in order and they were not only ready but looking for the blessed hope that all born again believers share, the rapture of the church. The day in which they lived was not all that different than today except for the advances in technology. Sin ruled their city just as it does our nation today but they were not caught up in that sin. They lived for Christ when most ignored the gospel message. They were steadfast, unmovable and always abounding as others were admonished to be. These believers were ready to meet Jesus in the air and they knew as we should that it could be any moment. Are you ready to meet Jesus today? Are you looking for His soon and sudden return as they were? There were others that Paul wrote to that could not say yes to those questions but they could. They are an example that we need to be ready to meet the Lord Jesus Christ at any moment.
