KJV
A final thought this week about the rest that is promised to the people of God. We all need this rest and that rest is promised to every blood bought child of God. But there are times when it seems that we come short of that rest. (Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.) Pay careful attention to the words of this verse, “Seem to come short of it.”) Not that rest has been taken away, not that rest is impossible, but that we “Seem to come short of it.” When it seems that we have come short of that rest we need to do the things necessary to find that rest once again. Believe God, believe what God says. Ask the Lord to help you remove all doubt and fear and trust Him. Then we need to remove anything that hinders our close walk with Christ from our lives. Sin, no matter how small, moves us away from rest, never gives us rest. Then we need remember what we can do without Christ which is nothing. Ask Him to restore that much needed rest. We all need rest and when it seems that we have come short of that rest we need come back to Jesus for His has never moved and His promise of rest is still there for us.
