Ps 37:1-6 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.
4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.
6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
KJV
Verse four above is one I am often drawn to as God makes a promise concerning prayer. But is every desire of my heart always granted? The answer to that is no and the answer as to why is found in the above verses. Do I trust the Lord to the point of knowing beyond all shadow of doubt that He will always do good for me? (Verse 3) When that is true the desire of my heart will be His will for me. Have I committed all to Christ? (Verse 5) All my life, all my desires, all of my family, all of me, has it be committed to Christ? Am I walking in His righteousness? (Verse 6) I know that in me is no good thing, but am I walking with Christ? When those things are true then God will give me the desires of my heart and even much more. When we are trusting in Him, when we are committed to Him, when we are walking with Him it opens up the floodgates of blessings and answer to prayer. Then we experience what was said by Jesus. (Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.) Most people apply this to giving of tithes and offerings and that can apply but giving of those things is not be addressed in this context. Give your all to Jesus Christ and you will find yourself receiving much more than you have given.
